The alpacas at Turner Farm are set to receive a new home thanks to a generous donation from 2nd Swanwick Scouts, raised through their annual ‘Santa’s Sleigh’ collection.
Recently, Georgie Draper, Blend Alternative Education & Post 16 Manager, attended a 2nd Swanwick Scouts meeting to collect the cheque from Ady Turner on behalf of the group.
The funds were raised during the Scouts popular Christmas tradition, where volunteers travel around local streets with Santa on his sleigh, spreading festive cheer with music and collecting donations from the community. The event is always warmly received and raises valuable funds for local good causes.
The donation will contribute towards the construction of a new alpaca stable at Turner Farm, providing an improved home for the farm’s alpacas. The new stable will help ensure the animals have a safe and comfortable space as the farm continues to develop.
The alpacas are a much-loved part of life at Turner Farm and play an important role in the experiences enjoyed by young people attending Blend. Spending time with the animals helps young people build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of being outdoors in a supportive environment.
As a thank you for their support, members of the Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be invited to visit Turner Farm, where they will have the opportunity to meet the animals, explore the site and learn more about the exciting plans for its future development.
