Neurodiversity Celebration Week is an opportunity to recognise both the strengths and the challenges of neurodivergent individuals, and to reflect on how many of the barriers they face are created by environments and systems.
At Blend Youth Project, we actively recognise the skills, talents and potential of the neurodivergent young people we support. We are committed to addressing these barriers through the way we design and deliver our services, creating opportunities that are inclusive, supportive and empowering.

The voice of young people is not just important. It is the heartbeat of everything we do.
As part of our latest evaluation, 26% of young people told us they consider themselves to have a disability, including autism, ADHD, ASD, dyslexia and dyspraxia. By listening to their experiences, we are able to shape support that is responsive, meaningful and truly transformative.
Our approach is person-centred, holistic and needs-led. Across our weekly sessions and Alternative Education provision, we create spaces where young people feel understood, valued and supported. Through this, we help them re-engage with learning, build confidence and move towards their full potential.
This is what inclusive, compassionate support looks like in practice.
Cassie joined Blend two years ago as a school refuser. With ASD and ADHD, she was experiencing high levels of anxiety, which meant she was rarely attending school and found both social and academic environments overwhelming.
She began with short days at Turner Farm, gradually building up to two full days each week. In her first year, she achieved a BTEC Award in Land Based Studies and developed strong friendships.
In her second year, Cassie’s confidence continued to grow. She was able to return to school on a part-time timetable while maintaining her time at Blend.
This year, she has taken GCSEs in Maths, English and Science, achieved a BTEC Certificate with us, and now has a provisional offer for a Level 3 college course.

Cassie’s journey is one of many.
