Rob* was referred to our Alternative Education programme at the start of Y10, at which time he was experiencing social problems with local gangs, experimenting quite heavily with drugs and alcohol, and becoming involved in football hooliganism.

Rob’s behaviour was quite challenging initially and his engagement was very limited. Through the perseverance of the Blend Project team, and several timetable changes to ensure his peer group with us was as supportive as possible, Rob made it through Y10.
Now, in Y11, Rob has developed into a mature and motivated young man with high aspirations. Rob gained his BTEC Certificate in Construction and his qualifications in Maths and English, which was a massive achievement for him, giving him the confidence he needed.
Rob is now turning his life around; the Blend team find him a pleasure to work with and he has secured a college place to continue his education. In addition to all of this, Rob is now extremely supportive of other students who are struggling and find life tough.
