During Mental Health Awareness Week (11 to 17 May 2026), Blend Youth Project proudly joined our wider charity, Valley CiDS, in highlighting the importance of looking after our mental health and emotional wellbeing.
This year’s awareness week was a great opportunity to remind young people that their mental health matters just as much as their physical health. Taking time to care for your mind, giving yourself space to heal and grow, and reaching out for support when you need it are all important steps towards positive wellbeing.

Throughout the week, young people took part in a variety of activities designed to promote positive mental health. Wellbeing Walks took place across Heanor, Alfreton and Ripley, giving young people the opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy fresh air, stay active and spend time talking with friends and the Blend team.
In Buxton, our afternoon session took a different approach with a fun murder mystery treasure trail around the town. As young people worked together to solve clues and uncover “whodunnit”, they were also enjoying many of the wellbeing benefits that come from walking, problem solving and connecting with others. The group even stopped by the local Lighthouse Charity Shop, to say hello along the way, making the afternoon a fantastic opportunity to explore their local community while supporting their mental wellbeing.
At Blend Youth Project, supporting young people’s mental health isn’t something we focus on for just one week of the year, promoting the holistic health and wellbeing needs of young people is something we focus on all year round.
We provide safe, welcoming and non-judgemental spaces where young people can be themselves, build friendships, share how they are feeling, and know they will be listened to. Through a wide range of activities, we encourage young people to develop confidence, build resilience, and gain a better understanding of their emotions and wellbeing.
Whether it’s taking part in healthy lifestyle activities, getting creative, spending time outdoors or simply having someone to talk to, Blend helps young people develop positive coping strategies and the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges.
Our team also supports young people to access additional services and guidance where needed, helping them make informed and positive choices about their wellbeing.

Mental Health Awareness Week may have come to an end, but the message remains the same: you matter, and your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
