Turner Farm is a beautiful, 48-acre site, steeped in a history which is evident through the old stone buildings, mature trees and hedgerows. It provides a variety of learning environments and a wealth of opportunities for students to try different vocational activities.
Students are closely involved in looking after alpacas, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits
and guinea pigs, gaining a wide range of hands-on animal care experience. Those on
longer term placements are able to take responsibility for the care of certain animals,
developing confidence and the ability to work independently.
Other activities include fencing, tree-planting, gardening, nature conservation and pond
dipping, with regular end-of-term events such as cooking on a fire, sports and circus skills.
Young people may attend simply for enrichment and personal development or undertake a BTEC in Land Based Studies or a short course, including Maths & English functional skills where appropriate. SMSC and AQA Unit Awards are delivered to all students.
