Young people supported by Blend Youth Project have received a heartwarming gift thanks to the generosity of the volunteers at Project Linus North Derbyshire, who kindly donated 20 beautiful handmade quilts.
Pauline from Project Linus North Derbyshire recently visited Turner Farm to present the quilts to Amy Bamford, Specialist Teacher within Blend’s Alternative Education Provision.
The quilts have since been distributed to young people across Blend’s education sites and youth hubs, providing comfort, reassurance and a sense of warmth and security. For many young people facing challenges in their lives, knowing that someone has taken the time to create something especially for them can have a meaningful impact.
Project Linus is a nationwide organisation whose volunteers lovingly make quilts for children and young people who are sick, disabled, bereaved, distressed or disadvantaged. Their quilts are often described as “a hug they can keep”, a phrase that perfectly reflects the care, kindness and compassion stitched into every one.
At Blend, we are committed to creating safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive, and thoughtful donations like this help us continue that work. The quilts are a reminder to our young people that they are valued, cared for and supported by their wider community.
